This was the initial program that spawned the idea for PFP. In the off-season following the 2009 season, Brad decided he wanted to start a program to purchase tickets to A’s games for troops and their families as an opportunity to do something fun for our servicemen and women.
These games are designed to offer our military families the opportunity to get out of the house and temporarily take their mind off their loved ones half-a-world away, risking their lives every day for our rights and freedoms (while minimizing the expenses of a Major League Baseball game).
In 2010, with the initial funding and with a matching donation from the Oakland A’s Community Fund, PFP was able to purchase 1200 tickets to A’s home games throughout the season.
In 2011, thanks to your wonderful support, that number grew and the venues increased! In Oakland, seven different games brought in a total of 3500 troops and family members as well as another 1000 in Phoenix to a couple of September games.
In 2012, the ticket giveaway promotion has expanded drastically. PFP has purchased 3600 tickets to Diamondbacks games in Phoenix. We also continued support in the Bay Area by providing tickets for 600 troops to two different A's games in Oakland. Additionally, in cooperation with Operation Care & Comfort, we helped purchase 500 tickets and a few parking passes for troops & families for the May 28th Memorial Day game in San Francisco as the D-backs will take on the Giants.
